What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?
- Multifactor Authentication is a security process that requires users to verify their identity using two or more different types of credentials before accessing a system.
- Why it Matters? Even if a password is compromised, MFA adds an additional layer of protection to prevent unauthorized access.
Setup Google Authentication (Most Secure Method of MFA)
The most secure way to set up MFA is Google Authentication. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to setup MFA using your mobile device.

If you’d like to add an additional factor in authentication, beyond email, and you have chosen google to authenticate (recommended), you will need to select “Setup” under “Google Authenticator"
Important! In order to continue with MFA via google authenticator, you need to have the google authenticator app installed on your personal mobile device. If you have not completed this step, follow these instructions before continuing to the next step.
- Once you have set up the Google Authenticator application on your personal mobile device, you will return to the setup screen where you will be prompted to “Configure factor”.
- You will select “Configure factor” and then you will be prompted to choose the mobile device you are utilizing, either “iPhone” or “Android”
- After selecting your mobile device, you will click “Next”

After clicking, next you will be prompted to use the Google Authenticator application on your mobile device to scan the QR code on the screen.
Note: Avoid scanning the QR code to download the app, instead, please follow the steps to download the application first, and then proceed.

- You may also select the plus sign in the bottom right corner to either enter the “setup key” or “scan a QR code”. As a recommended best practice, please scan the QR code.
- Once you’ve scanned the QR code, or entered the key, the authentication code will appear and refresh every 30 seconds. The code will be for “login.coherehealth.com” and display your email address beside it.
8. Back on your computer, you will click “Next” where you will be prompted to input the authentication code. Use the code displayed on the authenticator app on your phone. Remember to enter the code within 30 seconds.
