What is Multifactor Authentication & how to use Email to setup (Fastest Method)

What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?

  • Multifactor Authentication is a security process that requires users to verify their identity using two or more different types of credentials before accessing a system.
  • Why it Matters? Even if a password is compromised, MFA adds an additional layer of protection to prevent unauthorized access.

Setup Email Authentication (Fastest Method of MFA)

The fastest and most efficient way to set up MFA is Email Authentication. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to setup MFA using your email.

  1. Go to next.coherehealth.com and enter your login credentials.
  2. Once you’ve logged in, you will be prompted to set up multifactor authentication. On this step you will see three different setup options:

    • “Okta Verify”
    • “Google Authenticator”
    • “Email Authentication”

Select “setup” under the Email Authentication option. (If you prefer an alternative method (personal phone) please check with your organization’s privacy policy for limitations.)

  1. Next you will be prompted to begin setting up email authentication by selecting  “Send me the code”. The code will then be sent to the email that is registered with your Cohere portal account.

Note: If you do not have access to that email, we recommend utilizing your business email address that you do have access to, to register and set up a new Cohere account.

  1. Then in your email inbox, you will find an email from “Cohere Health” with the subject “One-time verification code". Click into this email to access the one time code.

  1. You will then navigate back to the Cohere portal to enter that code into the open “Verification code”  field and click "verify".

  1. The screen will then show a green checkmark next to your chosen authentication path. If you would like to proceed with email authentication only, you will simply selectFinishand the email authentication setup process is complete.

If you would like to add additional layers of safety through authentication, you can select between “Okta Verify” or “Google Authenticator” as the additional layer of authentication. Google Authenticator is recommended, should you wish to add an additional layer of safety.
